Goin’ on a road trip . . . wanna come along?
🙂
I have been accused of being a tease. Alrighty then, I’ll own up to it. I try to be a nice tease, though, because the image of a little girl teasing a weasel comes to mind. And it’s not a nice picture.
Oh, now I just had to bring up that book, didn’t I?
“You can knit a kitten mittens
And perhaps that cat would purr.
You could fit a fox with socks
That exactly matched his fur.
You could make a goat a coat with a collar trimmed in mink
Or give a pig a wig
In a dainty shade of pink.
But never tease a weasel;
This is very good advice.
A weasel will not like it
And teasing isn’t nice!” –from”Never Tease a Weasel” by J.C. Soule
WTTW*: Do you have littles at home still, or are you fortunate enough to have grandchildren close by? You really ought to have a nice big ole’ stack of picture books close at hand, at all times, to read to them. Turn off the t.v. Put down that blasted ‘phone. Close up that ‘pooter when they are there. And read them a book.
Or–even better–a nice big stack of books.
Start with this one:
I usually don’t publicize it when I’m traveling, but gosh! I think it would be fun if you came along this time, Gentle Reader. I’m on pins and needles about all the travel plans that we have coming up.
The kids and I, first, are driving to Ohio to–hopefully!–be there when our newest grandchild is born. When was the last time you held a baby just hours old? Well, unless you’re a midwife or a labor and delivery nurse, probably it has been awhile, eh? So we will be privileged to spend time with Andrew and Sonia and the winsome and beautiful Princess Anee, and to meet the newest royal family member when he or she deigns to make her or his entrance. 🙂
I’m taking my camera and my laptop and my knitting and my sketchbook, and I’m going to make periodic blog posts (“keep ’em short!” my darling daught encourages me) because I want you to come along, too.
Not too long after we get home from this trip, we’ll be packing up our bags and traveling to New Zealand. It doesn’t seem real to me, yet, because I have quite a bit to do before we stuff our bags into the Shimmy and drive to the airport. Bryan has a standing offer to teach there at a Bible College–it’s a volunteer position, and he has condescended to let us come along. You may remember my mentioning this, that the reason the kids and I started up our farmer’s market business several years ago was to raise funds for airline tickets to New Zealand: it was totally worth it, by the by.
So there you have it. Ohio. New Zealand. And then home, just in time to start planting the hoop house full of lovely things.
So Much to look forward to! Wanna come along? Then be sure—this moment!—to type your email address in the little box up at the top right. And hey, I’m on all the social stuff: twitter and Pinterest and Facebook and so if you wanna, connect with me at those places, too. AND ONE MORE THING: if you enjoy reading my what I write, PLEASE share posts with your friends.
It would be the greatest “thank you” you could give me.
🙂
And thank you. You’re the greatest.
*That’s “word to the wise,” but you know that, right? 😉
p.s. I’m nearly finished with the Flair story . . . ! 🙂

Wow!! I can’t wait!!
Sounds like a great start to 2016. Looking forward to a lot of pictures. We’re headed to the states for a week in March to pay taxes and so I can pick up a new laptop but that’s about the extent of our planned travel. Nothing nearly as exciting as New Zealand. I’ll be watching for your blog posts.
Will you be driving past our neck of the woods, Chef?
WOW WOW WOW! Now I’ll say it backwards, WOW WOW WOW! How AmaZing honey, New Zealand. I’m so tickled pink for ya I realllly am. Have a blast. Take tons of pics and God speed.
Ps Did I ever tell you about my postcard collection? (Hint hint : )
Remind me about the postcard collection, in fact LUCY send me your address and I’ll send you one!
So true about the picture books. We have an ever-growing collection! Rebekah loves to read and look at books and pull mine down off the shelves . . . 😉
Good for you, dear Nathana! You’re a good mama.
